What is a welding cylinder?

Dec 10, 2024

The welding cylinder is a commonly used transmission element, also known as a cylinder or hydraulic cylinder. It is mainly composed of a cylinder barrel, a piston, a seal, a shock absorber and a connector. The welding cylinder uses compressed air or fluid to make the piston reciprocate in the cylinder barrel, thereby realizing the movement of mechanical equipment such as pushing, pulling or lifting.

Working principle
The welding cylinder is a typical hydraulic transmission element that uses the hydraulic power from the hydraulic station to make the piston reciprocate in the cylinder barrel. When the hydraulic station outputs the transmission liquid, the hydraulic oil enters the oil inlet hole of the cylinder, causing pressure to be generated in the cylinder barrel of the cylinder, thereby driving the piston to move to the other end of the cylinder barrel. When the hydraulic oil needs to return, it returns to the hydraulic station through the return oil hole at the cylinder outlet. The movement direction of the welding cylinder can be achieved by controlling the output pressure and flow of the hydraulic station.

Structural features
The structure of the welding cylinder generally includes a cylinder barrel, a piston, a seal, a shock absorber and a connector. Its installation size is smaller than that of the tie rod cylinder, it can withstand greater pressure and is easier to customize, such as special oil ports, special installation methods, installation of locking valves or balance valves, etc.

Application areas
Welding cylinders are widely used in various mechanical equipment, especially in situations where high pressure and high-precision control are required. Due to its compact structure, high pressure resistance, and easy customization, welding cylinders are widely used in engineering machinery, metallurgical equipment, and hydraulic systems.
